Happiness is the selflessness that St. Clairsville HS of Ohio demonstrated as the Head Coach and upperclassmen instructed their star running back to slow down and stop one yard short of the goal line so that they could insert freshman RB Logan Thompson. What's so special about that?
Thompson's father had died of a massive stroke 2 days earlier and to honor his father, he suited up for the game.
He did not know it, but the team was determined to get him into the game and score his first touchdown, on his only carry of the season so that the grieving youngster could make his father proud.
Michael Ferris was on his way to his 12th TD of the season, when he suddenly slowed down and ran out of bounds just shy of the goal line. The Refs had signaled TD, but the coach and players argued that he did not, and Thompson was told to go in the game. Ferris moved to Full Back and lead the way into the end zone for Thompson.
"Looking straight up into the sky after scoring my first varsity touchdown…i know the old man was watching! love and miss you so much daddy," Thompson tweeted after the victory.

Happiness is running your first 10K with your dad and sisters in a hometown race of more than 1,000 runners though one of the country's most beautiful inner-city parks. It didn't hurt that the weather was picture perfect. Even though my time was a snail's pace at 1:17.50, it was an amazing experience. Here is my dad and me coming down the homestretch. Attachments:

…… waking up this morning and one of the first thoughts I had was……
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh ----- we get sneak peaks this week!!!!
Oh -- and finding out a good church friend and neighbor is a huge Castle fan -- yes!!!

... Being able to listen to my daughters college symphony orchestra concert from 700 miles away via the Internet. It's awesome!!!
Mahler's Symphony #3 -- it's 90 minutes long with no intermission.
I'm really so excited -- I love a good symphony!!
ETA: Knowing she is part of a fantastic program makes all money we spent on lessons and the hours driving to and from completely worth it!!
And the concert is awesome so far.

HA! azm, I TOTALLY know how you feel! Our oldest is away at college, and works at two of the three radio stations on campus. He does IT work for them, and DJ's. It's all Christian radio. One of them is more traditional in tone, with Focus on the Family, devotion segments and such, the other is very close to K-Love, if you're familiar with that. Anyway, yes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I can listen to him live on air, via iTunes. Makes me SO happy! Yeah, it's pretty great. I know what you mean! OH, and I LOVE a good symphony, too! Fabulous!  |
