I love this thread, thank you all. I have only seen it once so missed a lot, I am sure. However, one simple thing that popped right away for me is that Kate calls him Rick twice in this eppy. Wow, when was the last time she called him Rick, it has been ages. My interpretation of that is that we are heading toward some more emotional intimacy between RC/KB.
When she calls him Castle, it is certainly a term of endearment. But when she calls him Rick, I feel like it is her way of pressing harder, wanting more intimacy, trying to "claim him." She called him Rick both times in front of Meredith, she was marking him, he is hers. I don't see KB as fearful right now, a little confused maybe, but she is going to prod him now, she is going to get to know him better. Just don't see her running, she had so many opportunities to run in this eppy. Now, does she love him yet? I don't think so, but she likes him a lot more and he is more mysterious to her now. If she challenges herself to find out more about him, and if he opens up, then she will be in love with him quite soon, imho.

First off, Darby Stanchfield rocks. She's shown up on two episodes and I loved her both times. I wouldn't mind seeing her again.
Second, I'm expecting challenges to Rick and Kate's relationship because it's SOP around here so when Meredith had the surprise revelation at the end it wasn't that much of a surprise. For me, it's starting to feel a tad gimmicky, forced, and not truthful to the storyline. Come on Kate. You're a detective. You going to listen to an Ex who cheated on Castle? Pffft. The story is going from Will They/Won't They to I Believe in You/I Believe in You Maybe. Zzz...
A+ performance from everybody. Loved Kevin, Javi, and Lanie. This was a solid Castle episode minus the bizarre ending, kinda like the "I didn't get you anything"/"What?!" pan to normal kissing at the end of the Xmas episode. It's jarring and I don't like it and I hope it's not a trend but it sure feels like it.

Nothing to really add on the episode itself - I liked it and agree with the concensus about the last scene. But, I did pick up another NYC goof last night. When they tracked the suspect into the subway they said MTA Card. NOT! It's METRO Card. Really odd since they've mentioned METRO Cards in previous episodes.

Didnt he tell Alexis in the Vampire episode, about why he writes about murderers?
I wonder if by telling Kate that fic story he was avoiding the question?
What was his reasons for changing his name to Castle?
Who was Rogers before he became Castle?
I know that weve had some details of his past. There is still things we dont know.
Meredith dosent know what all Castle has revealed to Kate. By the look on Kate's face you can see there was alot she didnt know. Its going to be interesting to see how she deals with it.
He spent four years figuring Kate out and I know he still dosent know all of her yet. Its really been all about him getting in her head. Now its time reverse it and let Kate find out more about him. She wants to, thats what I got out that last scene, is that she wants to know this man. She loves him and if hes her one and done, then shes get into his head now.. bcuz she cares about him and wants to know..
I like it I like that Meredith brought this to our attention. We all so focused on Kates wall, we didnt think about Castles wall. I am looking foward to seeing how this plays out..
Great episode wonderful.. It was a mixture of funny, light, and dark. It was much better then last years Till Death mid premiere. loved it!!!

I have a hard time wrapping my head around Kate's coming back from supper with Meredith sounding like they were almost best buddies.....
I DO NOT LIKE manipulative people and that's how I view Meredith....she's just way too smarmy.

I finally got a chance to watch the episode again last night and - as always - saw some little treasures that make this show so special! I loved Martha's face at the door when Meredith drops her huge purse in Martha's hand. Castle's hair was really askew at the crime scene, giving him a frazzled look, but that man is so darn sexy no matter what they do to his hair! As Ryan and Espo go up to the door, looking for the person on the sheet of paper the vic had, Ryan makes quite a jab at Espo about dumping a woman when it gets serious. Wasn't it the other way around with Lanie? I thought she was the one not looking for anything serious. Anyway, fantastic scene with those 2 guys. I would have absolutely loved to watch the vase breaking scene being filmed! It's one of those classic understated comedy scenes. Everyone's facial expressions are so fantastic! The guest star is great as she answers questions and still has such drive and attention to destroying things. Kate jumps every time something hits the floor and Castle watching the gal slowly poke that big round gold vase off the stand was priceless! The whole scene was superbly played by everyone. Loved the body language from Kate in the break room as she exited, right after accepting the invite to dinner with Meredith. She makes a comment about not appearing insecure and then puts her chin up and tosses her head back to punctuate the statement. So fun! Another great Kate moment was at the murder board when she is teasing Castle about comparing notes with Meredith and she glances down at his crotch as she walks away. The poor guy was getting it from all sides And, I have to think that we have a new classic Castle line to add to the series collection from this episode. "Button up, Kitten. We're going home." I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!!

The line was a nice link back to "Always Buy Retail" when RC told KB that he really, really wanted her never to call him "kitten" again. Loved when Espo and Ryan were questioning RC about KB's sarcastic "yeah, a little too amicable" remark. Espo really pulls off the befuddled/questioning facial expressions as he looks back and forth. The scene felt a tad bit like the SNL skit/segment "Really?" with Seth and Amy.

Didnt he tell Alexis in the Vampire episode, about why he writes about murderers? Actually Kate asked him why and he made up a story and made a joke about it...now feeding in to Kate's concerns. That scene always bothered me which is why I remember it.

Nathanfan, the actress who played her is Nancy Lee Grahn who has been on General Hospital for years. I agree, she did a great job. On Monday she tweeted this... @nancyleegrahn After doing over 25 guest star stints on TV, I have never been better written, directed, edited, SCORED than on @castle_ABC. #castle I thought that was very cool.
